Windstreek house

On 5 October 2015, the first broilers arrived in the new Windstreek house. This house is the result of the Poultry with Taste project. The resulting sketches and ideas have been further developed, calculated and extensively tested at a practical level.

We have jointly carried out this further development as a Windstreek consortium. The consortium consists of the following organizations and companies: Wageningen UR Livestock Research, Sommen of automation, Plukon Foodgroup and Circular Landscapes. This house is a big leap forward in the area of integral sustainability. Because the entire house is no longer heated and the barn is ventilated via natural ventilation, a substantial energy saving is possible. In addition, the different climate zones in the house and the 3D use of space with the help of voids, are very attractive for broilers and their well-being. The house also has great potential to significantly reduce the emissions of ammonia, odor and particulate matter. To learn more about sustainability and other facts about our company, click here.
